Biography
Northern CA Song Writer and Folk Musician
Music flows throughout Sara’s family. Her grandfather was a talented pianist, and her grandmother taught music in rural schools in Northern California. She learned to sing from her father, who had a beautiful baritone voice, and a love of lyrics from her mother, who had quite an ear for them. Both parents taught her and her siblings quite a few fun songs while growing up.
Her family’s passion for music continued with her, her siblings, and her children. After her sister moved to Nashville, she produced a platinum-selling song. Her children are carrying on the family tradition, with one son being a guitarist and songwriter, a daughter playing the ukulele, and another son being the subject of Waterfall Boy. Sara writes all of her own lyrics and poetry, with themes drawn from her love of nature.
Sara has enjoyed a variety of titles, including singer, songwriter, poet, naturalist, and educator. She began her music career in her 50s after spending many years as a beloved teacher of environmental science and history for students at a local charter school. Sara is happily married to Glenn, and together they have three wonderful, adventurous children and a pet chinchilla.
