Ballyhoo

Going to Nevada it’s the state that’s right next door
See if I can find what all the Ballyhoo is for
Walk up to the dealer with a dollar twenty-four
Put it all upon the table gonna see if it makes more.

Never been a gambler but I think I’ll change my mind
Some of us are losers but for others life is kind
Some of us have guide dogs, the rest are flying blind
Think I’ll roll the dice and turn this dollar to a dime

Walk with me to Texas see the pumpjacks in the sand
Then up into Utah some say it’s the promised land.
Over to Montana where Custer took a stand,
Then back to California, where the gold is in the pan!

How green is the valley, how blue are both your eyes?
I am just a loner but I’m wearing a disguise.
Didn’t mean to find you but I think somehow, I did
Seems a little pointless trying to stay hid.

A tornado came to Nashville and it blew the city down
Out in California it’s just burnin’ to the ground
They’re waitin’ for the big one
Up in Puget Sound
If I knew where home was, that’s where I’d be found!

Never been a gambler but I think I’ll change my mind
Some of us are losers but for others life is kind
Some of us have guide dogs, the rest are flying blind
Think I’ll roll the dice and turn this water in to wine

Going to the Arctic get my feet stuck in the mud
Then down to the Amazon they’re running from the flood
Poison is my skin, toxic is my blood,
Wash away the microbes, I don’t want to get the crud!

Oh how green is the valley, how blue are both your eyes?
I am just a loner but I’m wearing a disguise.
Didn’t mean to find you but I think somehow, I did
Seems a little pointless trying to stay hid.

Going to Nevada it’s the state that’s right next door
See if I can find what all the Ballyhoo is for
Walk up to the dealer with a dollar twenty-four
Put it all upon the table gonna see if it makes more.
