Mountain Lion

Mountain Lion came here on a gorgeous winter night
As she ran across the pavement She was golden in the light
And she said “darlin, darlin, darlin I am only passing through
Give me deer and give me rabbits And I will not trouble you”
And she was real and she was golden in the moon
Than she was gone like an olden river tune
Yea she was there on Old Alturas Road
Then she ran down to the stream bed she was gone, she was gone she was gone

She ran down to the thickets where the berries grow so deep
and I went home, but I could not come to sleep
for she was there in the woods behind my home
and I knew I would never be alone
and she said “darlin, darlin, darlin I am only passing through
Give me deer and give me rabbits And I will not trouble you”
And she was real and she was beautiful to see
But she triggered every nerve I had, She made a mess of me

Oh mountain lion I raise my glass to you
Because I know you are only passing through
And you are real and we share a sacred bond
I will whisper to the moon and I will hope that you’ll be gone

And she said said “darlin, darlin, darlin I am only passing through
Give me deer and give me rabbits And I will not trouble you
But I will wander through the ticket and the backyards of this town
You are lucky to have seen me but don't say that I’m around

For I am invisible, I am good and I am real
And I will keep this place in balance And I don’t care how you feel”
And then she ran down to the streambed
She was gone, she was gone, she was gone
And then she ran down to the stream bed
She was gone she was gone she was gone
And then she ran down to the stream bed
she was gone she was gone she was gone
